Shenzhen Metro is the urban rail transit system of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Shenzhen is the fifth city in Chinese Mainland after Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Guangzhou to have a metro system. As of June 28, 2016, Shenzhen Metro has a total of 6 lines, 149 stations, and a total operating length of 230 kilometers. The length of rail transit lines ranks 4th in China (only behind Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou) and 11th in the world, forming a subway network covering the administrative regions of Luohu, Futian, Nanshan, Bao'an, and Longgang in Shenzhen and a functional area in Longhua.
Shenzhen Metro is operated by Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd. (SZMC), Shenzhen Metro Longgang Line Investment Co., Ltd. (merged into Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd.), and MTR (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. (MTR) on different lines, with unified ticket prices and services implemented under the guidance of the Shenzhen government.
On December 31, 2014, on the the fourth day of the 10th anniversary of the opening of Shenzhen Metro, the one-day network passenger volume of Shenzhen Metro hit a record high, reaching 3.9434 million person times. This record high not only brings a successful conclusion to the operation of the subway in 2014, but also sends a congratulatory gift for the 10th anniversary of the subway's opening. The passenger volume of each route has performed excellently, with Line 1, Line 3, Line 5, and Line 2 breaking their respective passenger volume records. The daily passenger flow reached 1.3578 million, 783 million, 6672 million, and 502800, respectively.
The Shenzhen Metro and Shenzhen Bus constitute the backbone of public transportation in Shenzhen. The currently open routes include Line 1 (Luobao Line), Line 2 (Shekou Line), Line 3 (Longgang Line), Line 4 (Longhua Line), Line 5 (Huanzhong Line), and Line 11 (Airport Special Line). The subway accounted for 27.8% of public transportation, making it the backbone of Shenzhen's public transportation. At the same time, the subway has greatly promoted the integration process inside and outside Shenzhen. In the bidding process of Shenzhen Metro, MANLAKIS brand successfully won the bid for PC plastic socket boxes in Hangzhou Shenzhen Metro, contributing its modest efforts to Shenzhen railway transportation.
